Brown Bear is a place where entrepreneurial minds meet. Although networking is an essential part of entrepreneurship, you may also find it the most difficult part. Maybe you are an introvert, or you can only afford the time after kids go to sleep, or you hate unfamiliar locations, or you simply don’t know where to start from. Brown Bear is here to help you network more and network better with other entrepreneurs, innovators, technologists, developers, investors, executives and service providers in the San Francisco / Silicon Valley area.
Brown Bear is built on the belief that "if a picture is worth a thousand words, a video is worth a million". In Brown Bear, you start knowing a person by watching the person introducing herself in a short video; you may further talk to her directly through video chat or watch her talk to others in live conversations; you may invite the person to connect whenever you feel comfortable. And all you need is a smartphone! No more embarrassment of being left alone in a party; no more feeling trapped by your schedule; no more worries about driving and parking; no more! You can build and nurture your network at your own pace from anywhere, any time. Networking is Awesome!
Once you have installed the Brown Bear app, please first set up an account by providing an email address and a password. You will be required to record a short video introducing yourself. Don’t worry if you have never introduced yourself in front of a camera. Brown Bear allows you to keep practicing until you get a video you are happy with. Once you submitted your intro video, daily social immediately starts. You can watch regularly updated videos of other entrepreneurs introducing themselves. If you like someone after watching her video, you can invite her to connect right away.
Besides daily social, you can reach out to more people via virtual Brown Bear meetups. During a virtual Brown Bear meetup, you will get a chance not only to watch the pre-recorded self-introductions, but also to talk to others through real time video chat. If you are not sure about whom to talk to, you can warm up by watching others talk in live conversations. After a video chat with someone, you can immediately follow up by sending out an invitation to connect.
If you cannot find a meetup that matches your interest, you may host your own virtual meetup on the Brown Bear platform.
In general, daily social is free of charge. Brown Bear will charge a fee if you join a virtual meetup unless you are one of the earliest participants. Brown Bear also charges a fee to host a meetup.
