This application is a query tool soil maps at 1: 100,000 that were originally published between 1986-2011 as part of the 'Letters of Soils of Argentina - Province of Entre Rios' series.

These maps were digitized for incorporation into the Geographic Information System (GIS) so-called "Plan map" (Agreement INTA - Government of the Province of Entre Rios, 1969-2011) based in the Agricultural Experimental Station (EEA) Paraná belonging to the Regional Centre Entre Rios (CRER) INTA in Argentina.

The geospatial database mapping mentioned provides information of cartographic soil units (defined at the level of series, consociations and / or associations series and complex) and contains data about the main constraints of soils for agricultural production and as the degree of current conditions and potential water erosion thereof. conventional values productivity indexes (PI) and potential of each map unit are also included.

Since 2014 such mapping is available via the Internet at GeoINTA Network, which is the system of Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) of the National Agricultural Technology Institute (INTA). Its availability is the result of a long process of adjustment, updating and on-line information which was conducted by the Laboratory of Geomatics EEA Paraná in conjunction with the Administration of the Red GeoINTA.

These activities are framed within the Project PFIP ER 07-08 entitled "geospatial database for strategic decision making in Value Chains supported on Natural Resources," which runs through INTA with funds from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MinCyT) of Argentina.
The development of this mobile application was made by the company Agrobin (www.agrobin.com) Parana (Entre Rios), depending on the requirements established by the project. Its purpose is to supplement the capacity of WMS service (available through the Parana geoserver node GeoINTA Network) based on the benefits currently offered by mobile platforms (smartphones, tablets).

The most notable of these advantages is the possibility of obtaining timely accurate user location by georeferencing provided by the device's internal GPS equipment. It can automatically identify the unit corresponding to the user's current location mapping (depending, obviously, of the existence and / or signal strength service wireless connectivity covering the area within which the device is located).

This advantage of automatic geolocation is complemented by the ability to handle different zoom levels to more easily identify and detail those features of the site or site of interest observed in situ, on how to identify, in turn, the same in the high-resolution satellite images that form the basis of geographical reference layer which has represented this soil mapping within the information system.
