Fr. Shaji Thumpechirayil, a priest belonging to the Archdiocese of Changanacherry, has proven his talent in Christian Devotional songs since 1992. He has composed and written lyrics to almost 2000 songs. As a renowned Christian music director, he is known for his freshness, simplicity and novelty in his lyrics and music. His compositions based on catholic theology, clearly depict the specialities in Ecclesiology, Mariology, Eucharistic Piety, Ecclesial Communion, and loyalty to the hierarchy. His various works display the simplicity in presenting the theology and trendy music.
His simple, common, yet poetic language has its uniqueness in presenting the Christian themes in the field of devotional music. His efforts have succeeded to some extent, to support Christian Art which faces rapid declination. Creating the songs through his life experience, Fr. Shaji Thumpechirayil always tells us that he is indebted to Jesus Christ alone. Creating music and lyrics on any subject within a short time spontaneously is his popular talent. "Everything is God's Gift, I entirely depend on Jesus and not on my skills", says Fr. Shaji Thumpechirayil. Marian 4th - MANNAPEDAKAM, FAITH, THAMBURAN, are his upcoming audio albums.
Despite his various compositions he has also made and directed various stage shows inside and outside India. He presented a light and sound show called "Divine Dawn", first of its kind in the Christian devotionals, in 1999 at SB College, Changanacherry. A fiction is depicted not on one stage, rather on different stages at the same time. This distinctive artistic show gave a new and wondrous experience to the spectator.
In the year 2000, another light and sound show called LUCKY ONE was conducted for the Canossian congregation at Alleppey. The theme of this show was St. Beckhitha, who was declared as a saint by John Paul Pope IInd. Marian - a Light and Sound Show on Mother Mary, was conducted in Sharjah, Dubai and Qatar. There were many notable reports and news of the light and sound show held in foreign countries. The Marian Show in 2008 at Changanacherry was the ultimate show of the earlier. This show was united by around 250 artists and 150 technicians. All these success were the examples of the blessed skills by the god almighty. Later on, the shows held at Mavelikkara and Kottayam caused a great sparkle in the mind to a personal and divine life for the spectators.
THE PASSION - A VILLAGE PRAYER SHOW held at Bl. John Paul IInd ground at Changanacherry in 2011 paved the way for a new awakening in the life of the people. All these convinced people that combining art with spirituality is more beautiful and divine. And as continuity, a light and sound show called JESUS THE SAVIOUR, held at Marine Drive, Cochin on 15th January 2012, included 500 artists and 250 technicians. JESUS THE SAVIOUR was the dream project of Celebrants India which is an organisation founded by Fr. Shaji Thumpechirayil which aims evangelization through media. After this, HOLY STAR KAVUKATTU PITHAVU, a light and sound show about the life history of Mar Mathew Kavukattu was held at Changanacherry Cathedral ground. A pure Christian old village story titled as SUVARA - A GLAD TIDING was held at Changanacherry later on and it was an entertaining as well as spiritual for everyone.
ARUMA SHISHYAN - THE BELOVED DISCIPLE, a light and sound show, in connection with the Faith Year of Catholic Church, depicting the entrance of St. Thomas into Indian soil, was united by 750 artists and 100 technicians. This show of 2 hours duration included the Mission to Apostles by the resurrected Jesus Christ, entry of St. Thomas to India, his preaching and further life to martyrdom and the history of Syro Malabar Church in Kerala in its own culture and taste, till St. Alphonsa and Pope Francis. This 8 day show from April 7th to April 14th 2013 is the greatest victory of Fr. Shaji Thumpechirayil as a creative director.
