Typhoid fever is a general term for foreign infections in ancient Chinese, not a specific name for a certain disease. The ancients often regarded the cause of the disease as the pathogen. Cold is not just the term “frigidity” in modern times, but the general term for all diseases caused by exogenous evils. Typhoid fever is exactly the meaning, and has nothing to do with modern typhoid fever. "Treatise on Febrile Diseases" is a classic work of Chinese medicine written by Zhang Zhongjing in the Eastern Han Dynasty. Now there are 10 volumes and 22 remains.

全書10卷，共22篇，列方113首，應用藥物82種。
第壹卷為“辨脈法”和“平脈法”兩篇，主要論述傷寒及雜病的脈、證與預後。
第二卷為“傷寒例”、“辨痓濕暍脈證”、“太陽病脈證並治上”，主要總論六經發生、發展、治療、預後的壹般規律、痓濕暍的證治。
第三卷至第六卷，主要論述太陽、陽明、少陽、太陰、少陰、厥陰等六經病的脈、證、治療與預後。
第七卷至第十卷主要論述霍亂、陰陽易、勞復的證治及傷寒病的可汗不可汗、可吐不可吐、可下不可下等。
六經形證
六經形證，是《傷寒論》全書的綱領，它是把證候分類而定出來的，後世認為這是不廢的法則，張仲景觀察到熱性病雖然錯綜復雜，但歸納起來，可分為六個類型，同時又運用《素問》的精神分析了陽熱、表實和陰寒、裏虛。即“三陽證”與“三陰證”。
