Highway crews around New York State interact with invasive species. Proper information on how to handle, remove, transport, and dispose of various invasive species could protect the workers as well as the biodiversity and environment of New York State. The project intends to prepare a smartphone application to be used by the highway field crews to identify, document, and deal with invasive species.

Funding for this project is provided by a Smith-Lever grant awarded to the Cornell Local Roads Program (CLRP) with additional funds from the Local Technical Assistance Program grant. An advisory panel consisting of members from the Cornell Cooperative Extension Invasive Species Program (CCE ISP); New York Invasive Species Clearinghouse; NYS Town and County Highway Superintendents Associations; and New York Conference of Mayors (NYCOM). Team members are listed in Section 6: Responsibilities.
