The Great War - 1914-1918 - Man, Arms and Peace

6 circuits in Mons, Le Cateau and Cambrai that follow the traces of the Great War.
This was where the first battles of the war took place and would also be the scene of the last fighting of the conflict. Meanwhile, for civilians, 4 years of occupation left its mark on the populations of entire towns.
The themed circuits cover the different sites and rekindle memories that have often been lost in the mists of time.
.
1 – Legend of the Angels of Mons (Battle of Mons, 23rd August 1914)
2 - The First and The Last (The Hundred Days Offensive, 11th November 1918)
3 – In wartime (The people of Mons during the war) En temps de guerre
4 – Battle of Le Cateau (26th August 1914)
5 – Battle of Cambrai (20th November – 7th December 1917)
6 – Hundred Days Offensive (August-November 1918)

An angel returns to visit the symbolic sites and travels between the past and the present to help the visitor understand historical events.
Who still remembers all those soldiers and civilians who today are just names on plaques and monuments that no-one stops to look at any more? Who better than the guardian angel of their memory…?

Audio guides and videos 2 to 3 minutes long, includes extra multimedia files and maps of each circuit.
