History of Kedah

Kedah (Malay pronunciation: [kəˈdɑh][3]; Jawi: قدح), also known by its honorific Darul Aman or "Abode of Safety",[citation needed] is a state of Malaysia, located in the northwestern part of Peninsular Malaysia. The state covers a total area of over 9,000 km², and it consists of the mainland and the Langkawi islands. The mainland has a relatively flat terrain, which is used to grow rice, while Langkawi is an archipelago, most of which are uninhabited islands.

Sejarah Kedah

Kedah atau juga dikenali sebagai Kedah Darul Aman (Jawi: قدح دار الأمان) merupakan salah satu daripada 14 negeri di Malaysia. Kedah terletak di utara Semenanjung Malaysia dan memiliki keluasan 9,425 km2 (lihat peta). Tanah besar mempunyai rupa bumi yang agak rata, yang digunakan untuk menanam padi.

Di bahagian utara, Kedah bersempadan dengan negeri Perlis dan bersempadan antarabangsa dengan Wilayah Satun Songkhla dan Yala di Thailand. Ia juga bersempadan dengan negeri Perak di selatan dan Pulau Pinang ke arah barat daya.

Bukti arkeologi yang ditemui di Lembah Bujang mendedahkan bahawa sebuah kerajaan Hindu-Buddha memerintah Kedah purba mungkin seawal 110 Masihi Penemuan kuil, jeti terus, besi peleburan tapak, dan tugu-tugu batu bata tanah liat sejak hingga 110 Masihi menunjukkan bahawa laluan perdagangan maritim dengan selatan India Tamil yang kerajaan sudah ditubuhkan sejak masa itu. 吉打州的历史

吉打（马来语：Kedah）是马来西亚的一州，位于马来西亞半岛西北部。其西北与玻璃市州為鄰，北及東分別與泰国的宋卡府及惹拉府为邻，南邊為霹雳州，西南邊為槟城州，西邊鄰海。

吉打州被暹罗统治的时期，被称为Syburi（泰语：ไทรบุรี）。

加上浮罗交怡岛的吉打总面积约9425平方公里，总人口约1778188人。2003年的种族比例是：马来人（1,336,352人）、华人（252,987人）、印度人（122,911人）、非公民（35,293）和其他（27,532）。

吉打州的首府是亚罗士打（Alor Setar）。其他的主要城市有双溪大年（Sungai Petani）和居林（Kulim）。位于岸外的浮羅交怡岛（Langkawi，漢語圈常譯為兰卡威）是吉打州的一个著名的旅游胜地。

除此之外，吉打州盛产稻米，被誉为“馬來西亞米仓”。马来西亚的国父也是第一任首相的东姑阿都拉曼与前任首相敦马哈迪医生都来自此州。
