SchengenCalc is a must-have tool for US citizens planning an extended stay in Western Europe due to regulations which state you cannot spend more than 90 days in the Schengen zone during any 180 day period.
If you want to stay in Western Europe longer than 90 days, you will need to spend at least some portion of that time in one of the few countries which is not a party to the Schengen agreement (e.g. Ireland, the U.K., Croatia).
Careful planning is required to maximize the amount of time you can spend in any of the 26 countries which make up the Schengen zone (see list below). Because the agreement creates a "moving 180 day window", it can be difficult and time-consuming to do this the old-fashioned way (manually, with a calculator and a calendar).
SchengenCalc simplifies this task by providing tools which allow easy entry of previous or planned stays and a visual indicator for how long you've been in the Schengen zone on any particular day (past, present, or future). This provides a simple way to try out various scenarios and immediately see how they impact future plans.
Sometimes the moving window can create non-intuitive scenarios which might make you doubt SchengenCalc's accuracy. The calendar view shows exactly which days were spent in the zone making it easy to manually verify the results just by scrolling through the calendar and counting how many days were marked as Schengen during the last 180 days. How do you know how far back to look? SchengenCalc can tell you with two clicks.
Features:
* No typing required to plan or record trips -- everything is point and click.
* Making changes to the plan is simple and results are immediately apparent.
* The calendar view makes planning trips simple and visual.
* The list view shows the same information in a more concise format.
* Three provisional countries (Bulgaria, Croatia, and Romania) can be tagged as Schengen if desired.
New Features (for those coming from previous versions):
* Month and year are displayed on left side of calendar view.
* Ability to enter a city name (optional but requires typing).
* Flag images included for most non-Schengen countries in Europe.

DISCLAIMER:
SchengenCalc is a tool for HELPING you plan trips to countries which are included in the Schengen agreement.
Information and calculations are based on my understanding of the rules for US citizens as of September 2019. It is definitely possible that I may be incorrect about everything related to traveling through the Schengen area. This means the results from using it are not guaranteed to be correct and I disavow all responsibility for anything which happens based on it's use.
Even if the calculations are correct, they do not constitute a right to stay in any country for any period of time. Consult with your embassy or immigration lawyers as needed.
