2048 is an addicting fun game available on computers and mobile phones. It's easy to learn, but hard to win. You can play it online, or download it to iOS or Android devices.

Look at the box and try to imagine what it would look like after you make your next move, or at least what will happen to some important numbers.

Focus on an angle. One of the common strategies some players use is to create a large number on one of the corners. There is no difference between one angle and another as long as you will continue with the angle you chose. [1]
This approach works best when the corner you have chosen is part of the rows you fill in constantly. This allows you to move squares left and right without moving the square with the highest value farther away.

Take advantage of the possible opportunities to combine multiple squares at the same time. If a whole row of identical squares forms in front of you, it will usually be a good idea to gather them together and free up more space on the board. [2]

Try switching between raising squares, then moving them up and continuing to do so. Focus on adding small numbers. For most of the game, building squares 8, 16, and 32 is more important than focusing on getting a big number.
