The measurement of light intensity is one of the most important measures in terms of safe working conditions and a comfortable stay in a person's room. In this case, the measurement of illumination is carried out by a special device called a luxmeter.
In this case, the measurement of the brightness of light, the measurement of pulsation of light, the measurement of the level of illumination and other parameters of the luminous flux, until recently, were carried out exclusively by professional equipment. It is clear that for the vast majority of the inhabitants of our country it was inaccessible. And not everyone could measure the light for them - they needed special, engineering knowledge and skills.
Today, the situation has changed dramatically. Light measurement has become as simple and routine as, say, sending SMS, especially since a smartphone is also needed for these purposes. The only condition is that it must have a light sensor.
But here a logical question arises: if you download a light sensor and install a light meter in Russian on your phone without advertising, how objective information can be obtained? The answer will be: sufficient for domestic needs.
It is clear that the Android light meter in Russian is not calibrated, not calibrated equipment that can be used for industrial purposes for metrological testing. And the error in such a “device” as an Android light meter will be higher than that permitted by GOST. But a preliminary measurement of lighting at the workplace is quite possible.
Characteristics of LuxMeter
Measurement of brightness, measurement of pulsation of lamps, as well as other parameters of the light flux, is possible only with the help of special software. And one of the most attractive in this regard is the LuxMeter Russian meter. This application has been successfully used by many people for a long time and has earned popularity among consumers and authority among specialists. This is evidenced by numerous positive, and sometimes frankly enthusiastic, messages on the Internet from those who used this light meter in Russian in their practice.
Among the main characteristics of the "device" it is worth highlighting the following:
1.100% free use and installation with no time limit.
2. When trying to measure the luminous flux, the minimum and maximum indicator is displayed.
3. There is a hold button.
4. Support for languages other than Russian.
5. The presence of push notifications when determining an indicator such as light level.
6. Display of sensor data.
7. Reset the minimum and maximum for values such as light level.
How were developers calibrated?
It is important to note that the developers did not take data from the ceiling, and did not act on the principle of "taking the light level of the flashlight of my phone as a basis, and plus or minus the" kilometer "is not an error." Previously, at the development stage, quite real calibration measures were carried out on the basis of measurements that the creators of the application performed with professional ATT-1508 equipment and a smartphone. It was necessary to measure the level of light more than 5,000 times in order to achieve the necessary accuracy. Moreover, the coefficient of determination was 0.87, which is a very high value characteristic of laboratory research.
In conclusion, it is worth making the following conclusions. Firstly, it is quite possible to measure the level of lighting using the LuxMeter application. Just perceiving the result as an unshakable truth is not so straightforward - this is still not an expert opinion based on attorney equipment. Secondly, if you need to measure the brightness of light in a domestic environment without reference to the regulatory framework, this smartphone application will allow you to seriously save on a very expensive measuring device.
