Jahanara Israil School & College of College Row, Barishal is built with many goals in mind: the first and foremost being to bring new hope for students to get a modern education. As you know, most of the private schools & colleges are located in Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. We wanted to bring something unique to our area.
We have all noticed for many years that Barishal and the surrounding areas are in need of an affordable, high-quality english version school & college. Hence, a modern school & college will prevent our children from leaving for the capital city. Moreover, this will attract new jobs to this area which will be a big plus for this great city. My siblings (Saleh M. Solaiman, Saleh M. Hossain, Saleh A.F. Rahman and Sultana J. Bhuyan) and I have come to make this dream a reality. This school & college is a living memory of our parents. The property is donated by SM Solaiman, SAF Rahman, Sultana J. Bhuyan, and myself; also a land value monetary donation by SM Hossain. The late SM Hassan’s portion of the land was purchased from his heir apparent for the school & college. Now, to build a english version modern school & college with solid western attitude in this part of Bangladesh is not going to be easy. Much work is needed to be done and a lot of help is required from the local people and the government. We want to create a wonderful educational establishment, which will give Barishal city students an upper hand in Mathematics, Science, and English. It is time to step out of the past and break through with a clear and modern version of education, which is very important in the present world today. This brand new, modern school & college will be a great match for the educational system recently adopted by the Bangladesh Government. JIS is aimed at being the dream school & college for students and teachers, as well as the parents. Let us build this great school & college brick by brick, for our children which will continue generation after generation, for you and me. Whether you are a Barisalian or not, whether you are a Bangladeshi or not, with your support, we can touch these school children and enable them to flourish their ideas and turn themselves into better citizens of the world. Grow with us and be a part of history-making.
