This is for GoDaddy DNS Zone Entries in which GoDaddy is your Domain Name DNS provider only!

Has your Home IP changed and you need to update your GoDaddy DNS entry for your home hosted website or system?

I am running a system at my home and my IP address changes every so often. When it does change, I need to log into GoDaddy and manually update my IP address for that hostname. I am sure you have all been there.

I found this to be a pain, since I have first find out my current public internet IP address, then had to navigate through a lot of GoDaddy screens to get to where you can make the change. There had to be an easier way. This is that way! This app will find your current public IP address and shows you your current GoDaddy DNS IP address. Allowing you to compare them and then allows you to update GoDaddy DNS so they match.

First you will need to go to the GoDaddy developer site to create a developer account and get your key and secret.

https://developer.godaddy.com/getstarted

Be aware that there are 2 types of key and secret - one for the test server and one for the production server *** Get a key and secret for the production server ***

You will need four items for this app to work for you. These four items go into the setting menu for the app. The four items are: domain name, A record name, key and secret.

Example for website is http://test.smcohen.com

domain name: smcohen.com
A record name: test
GoDaddy Key: 123h41412hj155 (whatever your key is)
GoDaddy Secret: 31243124hj1412h124 (whatever your secret is)

Steps to make all this work:

1- Connect to your Home Wi-Fi
2- Open App
3- Click Settings and enter all your details
4- Click Save
5- Click go Back To App
6- Check if your IP's match
7- If they do not, click Make Them Match
8- Wait for the thank you message, then click Refresh Screen, see them match.

Done!
