Falling Forces is a simple calculator for estimating fall forces on a rope. Use it to approximate the force on a climbing anchor, rock climber, and belayer in a lead fall scenario.

The app includes dialogs for quickly calculating fall factor, converting units of force (lb <==> kN), and determining rope modulus / UIAA Impact Rating.

The app includes help content that explains all required fields and describes the method used to estimate the tension on the rope in a fall.

The app can display force in kilonewtons (kN) or pounds (lb). It accepts distances in meters (m) or feet (ft). It accepts mass in kilograms (kg) or pounds (lb). It can also automatically convert input values when the units are changed (quickly convert m<==>ft and kg<==>lb).

The app displays a 3D plot, graphs the point of the last calculation, and allows querying for values with touch.

The UI can be configured to use either a 'light' or 'dark' appearance.

The app requires permissions READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE and WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE to save graph screenshots.

This free version requires extra permissions to serve advertisements: INTERNET, COURSE_LOCATION.
* A paid (ad-free) version is now available.
* Added: "Save Screenshot" to the plot activity (app now requires READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE).
* Added: the plot activity now graphs a point for the previous calculation and displays those values in the lower right.
* Added: the plot activity now allows querying the plot with a touch (touch the lower right of the screen to enable it and then touch a location on the graph).
* Fixed: the plot now use the theme's colors.
