In terms of Arudh's terminology, it means the Science to find out the true or broken patterns of traditional Arabic poetry and the changes that occur in them.
The object of this science study is traditional Arabic poetry, Arabic poetry that is still bound by poetry patterns). While the general goal of studying this science is to be able to distinguish between poetry
with other than poetry and to preserve from the act of confusing poetry patterns with other patterns and avoiding changes that are prohibited.
Mas’an Hamid (1995: 83) added knowledge ‘Aru? useful to facilitate someone in reading ancient literary texts or old Arabic poems.
Aru Sciences? first introduced by Al-Khalil ibn Ahmad ibn ‘Amr bin Tamim. It was motivated by his observations of the poets of the time who created poetry
without rules (ÃæÒÇä), this is due to the erosion of their talents in that regard and the assimilation of outsider's talent (ÃÚÌãí), so he began to collect poems
they then classify it based on types of poetry patterns. The patterns are then given the name of the great (ÈÍæÑ). Then he proceeded to look for parts of the poem that had changed.
All of this he called science ‘Arudh. He called the Science ‘Arudh because he settled in a place called‘ Aru? namely Mecca al-Mukarromah. (Chotibul Umam, 1992: 6).
‘Audy al-Deputy (1964: 47) believes this science is given the name‘ Aru? identified between the term ÚÑæÖ ÇáÈíÊ (midst of poetry stanzas) with the existence and place of discovery in the middle of Saudi Arabia.
