Are you planning on making the plunge into green living? If so then you need to memorize a saying that goes like this, "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle." Those three little words will serve as your Bible as you embark on a new greener living lifestyle. If you want to start helping our planet take a look at all of those plastic bottles you have in your garbage. What's the green living saying? Reduce, reuse and recycle...here are some tips to help you begin your journey to green living.

We drink water to keep our bodies healthy. Did you know that the DIY plastic bottle that we drink out of, harms our bodies and harms our environment? In reality you are doing more harm then good by drinking water if you are one of the many people that drink it out of those water bottles. People forget to reuse their water bottles or recycle them instead they are throwing them away in the regular trash bin or on the side of the road. These bottles are now filling up landfills and creating excess waste when in reality these bottles could have been reused.

If you don't believe that you are hurting the environment here are a few things that are caused by plastic bottles. Our soil and water is being contaminated due to DIY plastic bottle being buried and the chemicals being absorbed in the surrounding soil. Energy is being wasted on the production of these bottles. Global warming is something we have to worry about as well due to the toxins being emitted from manufacturing companies.

There are many different ways that you can reuse a DIY plastic bottle instead of just throwing it away. A part of green living is being creative and coming up with ways to help save our environment. Here are a few tips.

1. Cut the tops off of DIY plastic bottle and use them to store pencils, crayons, paint brushes or any other art supplies.
2. Use old bottles as planters. This works great for when you are just planting seeds; your kids will enjoy watching their plant grow.
3. Paint the outside of the bottle and cut off the tip where the cap screws on so that the opening is slightly larger. Fill it up about half way with water and add a few freshly picked flowers.

Instead of reusing the DIY plastic bottle the next best thing for green living would be to recycle them. It takes very little effort to toss an empty DIY plastic bottle into a recycle bin. The only negative effect to recycling water bottles is that during the process waste water and air pollutants are produced. There is a way to avoid this from happening. Instead of purchasing plastic water bottles purchase reusable bottles and fill them with tap water.
