A quick and simple benchmark for checking storage performance. Results are displayed to your screen quickly. Allows you to tweak the size, repetitions, threading, and other test parameters to see how they affect storage performance. This utility is a little different than other storage benchmarks by allowing you to modify relevant test parameters for each test. The test uses standard Android runtime and should be representative of actual performance levels seen by most user applications. Speeds reported by this test may be lower than native benchmark tests. Run to run variation is normal due to the brevity of this test and the interaction of system functions such as GC, network, etc. Root is not required. This utility does not alter any system configuration or settings. However, read/write test files are created which may be cleared from this app, or using any file utility.

Why is NAND flash speed important ? NAND flash is the storage technology used in your phone or tablet to hold apps, videos, photos, music, etc. Speed is important when you either store or retrieve anything into NAND flash. Storing can include taking photos, videos, downloading apps games or media, and web browsing. Retrieving can include launching an app or game, running apps, viewing photo galleries, skimming cover art, and web browsing. Fast NAND flash will make activities smoother and faster. Slow NAND flash may temporarily hang or sputter while the NAND flash is being accessed. Phones and tablets can have both embedded and external NAND flash. Embedded NAND flash is permanently built-in (soldered) into your phone. It is difficult or impossible to replace your embedded NAND flash. External NAND flash can include removable cards such as SDCARD. Just as there are multiple speed classes for SDCARD, embedded NAND flash also comes in different speeds; eMMC is available in increasing speed grades and UFS is the newest type of embedded storage that offers extreme performance.

This app is a type of benchmark that measures embedded NAND flash speed and enables the user to manually tweak important test parameters that affect NAND flash speed.
