The International Space Station, ISS, is the most modern facility made by man in space. It is an ultra-modern space laboratory which began construction in 1998 and was completed only in June 8, 2011.

Its orbit is low, about 350km, and you can catch sight of it from Earth with the naked eye. The station travels at a speed 27,700 km / hr and complete an average of 16 orbits per day.

The ISS is the human presence in space and adds various space programs of the leading agencies in the world. Its main objective is to create an environment to produce experiments that might be useful for human evolution. The main areas of research are: biology, physics and astronomy.

Learn more about space:

Astronomy called "outer space" every space that transcends space encompassed by the atmosphere of the Earth.

The space itself is not considered void because it contains endless amounts of subatomic particles moving at the speed of light. Among them, hydrogen and helium plasma, magnetic fields and radiation. The trend is that this vacuum is thinner even as it becomes further away from a celestial body.

Filled with gravitational waves and radiation of all sorts space is still the subject of much study and mystery, it has no beginning or end. cosmic dust and paramount star coming gases are some of microparticles which are also present in the space.

The man began to explore space in the 20th century first by balloons and then with the development of rockets and launchers. The first man to travel in space was Soviet Yuri Gagarin, in 1961. And the first man to reach the moon was the American Neil Armstrong, commander of the Apollo 11 mission in 1969.
