Text can go to any text box in any application (like mail, SMS, search engine, Facebook, Twitter)

Text is created in Unicode. Your phone/ tablet should able to handle the Tamil Unicode. Tamil text can also be created in TAM or TAB encoding.

Many keyboards to suit different persons. Tamil99, Typewriter, Bamini, Transliteration. Since English and Number and Symbol keyboards also provided, PonMadal is enough for both Tamil and English. No need to toggle between Input Methods.

A long tap on any button representing a keyboard will show a menu of keyboards. This includes handwriting.

A new keyboard with 12 keys called K12 is also provided. It is a single tap method, just like T9/dictionary mode. This is dictionary based for roots, and algorithm based for thousands of extensions of a noun or verb. So all the variations of a root word are taken care of. It is optimized so that after every tap, full words which end then are selected and shown.

A modified K12-Larana Keyboard is also included. In this all three la's are in one key. All three na's are in one key. The two ra's are in one key. Hence one can never do any error in these 3 letters.

Automatic spell checking and auto-correction for sandhi and larana errors, is provided in all the keyboards. When a word is in error, suggestions taking care of the Sandhi error and larana errors are shown next to the typed word. The first correct one is shown in green, and it is the automatic choice to go out.

When there is more than one word with different larana letters, the meanings of these words can be got just by tapping the arrow button at the end of the text line. Meanings of words containing even two roots are also shown.

Adding a word in the dictionary is included. What is special is that a word can be added as a noun. This is equivalent to adding thousands of variations of this noun. This is an extremely powerful new feature to add names of persons etc.

Auto-completion facility is available. One or two letters can be expanded to many lines in this way.


Easy typing for Transliteration. Use only l, r, n for all the larana letters. PonMadal will choose the right letter for you. Also, ‘vaanga’ will give the word correctly, even though this is not correct in the strict sense. ng corresponds to one latter, and k is missing.

Handwriting. A handwriting input is included. There is no need to train the software. Just start writing. It takes care of many variations in size, slant and the number of strokes in the letter.

Alternative suggestions for the last letter are shown at the top right of text line. A stroke can be easily erased by a horizontal right to left stroke. When you have doubt with larana letters, tap the arrow button in the text line, to get words with correct spelling and the meanings of similar sounding words.

The options can be turned on/off or changed by going to the settings.
