Hindi, in its present form, is the language that is born in modern times and is a mode of interaction with the modernity of Indian thought and culture. Last three decades have witnessed some serious engineering in the arena of Hindi language and literature. Vani Prakashan has been an active force in this revolution and has contributed as a catalyst in the "Hindi boom".

Vani Prakashan's motto- Taki Shabd Gawahi Dete Rahein (Let words be the witness) has interpreted the movements in social consciousness through its socio-political and critical publications. Our readers confer these works with the honour of being the milestones. To further our contribution, we feel proud to be associated with the prestigious Centre for Studies of Developing Societies [CSDS], New Delhi, and Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, Shimla, India.

Over a span of half a century, we have metamorphosed as a platform where multiplicity culture and language unite. Our writers have been conferred with the most prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award, the largest literary award for excellence in Hindi Literature. Our vision of making the world literature available in Hindi language has been successful so far. Nobel Laureates-Zwigniew Herbert, Ms. Wislawa Szymbroska, Mr. Tadeusz Rozewicz, Herta Mueller are among many prestigious entries in our catalogue. This endeavour is extended to the world of Urdu Shayari that has been taken our from the brackets of Urdu reading gentry and launched in the popular reading culture of Hindi Literature.

Our house magazine Vani Samachar has been active since the onset of the new millennium. We decided to move a step ahead with the quarterly 'Vak'. Launched in March 2007, it has broken all possible records, as it has become the first literary journal that crossed the sale of 4,ooo copies within two months of its launch. Under the editorship of Prof. Sudhish Pachauri, Vak is all set to explore several aspects of Hindi language and literature in an all-new perspective. Another progressive movement in the league is with 'Pratimaan', world's first refereed social science journal in Hindi, published in association with CSDS.

Vani Prakashan was established by Late Dr. Prem Chand Mahesh (Ph.D., Meerut University), an educationalist, teacher, writer and publisher. His mission was carried forward by his wife Shiromani Devi and later by her son Arun Maheshwari (M.A. Hindi Literature, Delhi University) and daughter-in-law Ameeta Maheshwari (B.Com. Osmania University). The third generation of the family is keen to take the legacy forward with Aditi Maheshwari. She holds masters degrees in English literature (Hansraj College, Delhi University) and Business Management (Strathclyde Business School, Scotland) and a pre-doctoral/ M.Phil. degree in Social Sciences (Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai).
