This app has been developed for the students of Minerals and Energy Resources Engineering (MERE) subjects at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia. This experience allows the user to explore the mining method selection process for a hypothetical orebody. The user can select the location for this orebody as well as adjust its orientation and depth. They can then interact with the 3D model, rotating it around to observe its geometry. By filling out the section describing the orebody characteristics within the Nicholas Algorithm, users can observe the suggested mining methods for the scenario. The experience also contains a series of animated mining method explanation videos that show how each method works, to better understand how it might fit the presented scenario. Additionally, the high-grade areas within the orebody can be observed by changing the cut-off grade shell representation, as this might impact on where to start a particular mining method.
