Depending on your current activity, Heart Rate Monitor Bèta will measure your heart rate once every hour. The time interval can be configured on your Android Wear in the 'Heart Rate Monitor' application.

All measured heart rates are synced with your Google Fit account as soon as you give the application access to write the data to your Google Fit account. The application can be disconnected from the Google Fit account at any time using the Heart Rate Monitor companion app on the phone. However when not connected to Google Fit, the Android Wear device(s) will not measure heart rates.

The measurements are also available for consultation right from your Android watch. That app can also be used to start a heart rate measurement at any time you would like. The result will be added to the other, automatically measured, heart rates. The measurements can also be consulted in the phone application.
