Cisco Geek Factor is a mobile interactive trivia game that tests your Cisco knowledge. It features questions donated by Cisco Press across six categories: General, Routing/Switching, Wireless, Security, Collaboration, and Data Center/Cloud. Give it a try - you might surprise yourself at how much you know.
How to Play
Cisco Geek Factor is a very simple game. You are presented with a sequence of multiple-choice questions and four possible answers per question. Answering a question correctly gains you points. Answering it quickly gains you even more. Every question is timed, and points are deducted the longer it takes you to answer. Some questions will also feature multipliers. Multipliers are assigned by chance. Harder questions are more likely to get higher and better multipliers, so this is your chance to really rack up the points.
The game also features "Power-Ups" - available for purchase from the "Store" menu entry on the main screen. You purchase these power-up via trading in points you have previously won in the game. The power-up icons appear on the main question screen, and can be used for a particular question by tapping the icon.
There are two types of power-ups available:
50/50 Power-Up: Reduces the possible answers from four to two for a particular question. Thus, your odds dramatically improve.
Freeze Time Power-Up: Stop the countdown clock for five seconds to allow you to consider your answer with less time pressure.
Four Modes of Play
Single Player: Think of this as practice mode. It allows you to get familiar with the flow of the game. You can choose your category or area of expertise and see how you would do in an actual game. Points earned in Single Player mode can be used to purchase power-ups. Single player mode does not affect your standing on the leaderboards.
Versus Mode: This is the main mode of the game. You are entered into a head-to-head match with another player who is online at that same time. You are presented with the same list of 10 multiple-choice questions randomly drawn from six categories. The player with the highest number of points is declared the winner. You must win the game to improve your position on the worldwide leader boards. Once the game is complete, you have the option of challenging your opponent to a rematch, start a new match against a different opponent, or returning to the home screen.
Group Mode: This mode is perfect for occasions like small user groups. It allows you to create a sub-game, even narrowing in on a specific category if you wish. Multiplayer has its own leader boards so you can create a competition within your own user group. In a ranked group match, there can be more than one winner for purposes of the group leaderboards. Groups of one to nine player will have 3 winners; Groups of ten or more players will have 5 winners.
Event Mode: Events are special tournaments created by Cisco for customer or partner gatherings. For example, Cisco Live! US. You can see which events are available by selecting "Events" from the home screen menu.
Geek Factor features:
Over 1,700+ skill-testing questions in 6 categories, culled from Cisco Press
Four different game modes, including online head-to-head competition
Worldwide leaderboards to rank yourself amongst your peers
