This tourist guide Guadalcanal, will be very useful to move through the streets, find every coffee shop, every bar and every restaurant, its accommodations, its tourist and cultural attractions as well as its main festivals and traditions.

You can discover precious enclaves and admire our wonderful landscape, with its "Sierra Water" and "Sierra del Viento" his "Mirador de La Capitana" and of course ... their olive trees and oaks.
Guadalcanal, nestled in the wonderful landscape of the Sevillian Sierra Norte, in the north of the province, has a lot to offer and teach ... find out!

Guadalcanal is nature, is history, tradition, culture. Discover its wonderful fauna, its unique natural landscapes, thanks to its unique geographical location, between Andalusia and Extremadura, the confluence sevillanas, Cordoba and Badajoz lands.

We highlight in particular its landscapes, its views, its services, which make this town a privileged place for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, while enjoying nature.

Guadalcanal can boast of a great historical legacy; the archaeological remains show evidence of the inhabitants of thousands of years already occupied these lands. The archaeological remains found in the caves of San Francisco and Santiago, provide us with the testimony of settlements in the Neolithic period.

Archaeology also offers Roman remains, such as the remains of a Roman road on the right bank of the stream of Arc (in these lands passed the Roman way of Híspalis to Emérita) or the Sarcophagus found in the estate of Santa Marina, certainly the most significant of the archeology of this period.

Guadalcanal founding dates back to the first Iberian settlements, which gave the name of Tereses, Tereja and even some have supposed it was Canani. Its current name comes directly from Arabic Guad-al-Kanal.

Due to its strategic location, it was heavily fortified city. Vestiges of the castle and medieval walls, but more significant are those that were used to lift the parish of the Assumption. While we have some data concerning the walled enclosure already in the Middle Ages surrounded the village, we do not know the exact date of its construction.

As the villa joined the uprisings that blew Wars calls the Communities, the enclosure was sent knock down as punishment In the end there were different castles (Castle Valjondo, La Torrecilla, La Atalaya, Monforte), today only there are remains of La Ventosilla.

Guadalcanal shown in its winding urban layout, numerous artistic treasures of different historical periods: the Parish Church of Saint Mary of the Assumption, La Almona, the Church of San Vicente, San Sebastian, the de la Concepción, the Hospital de los Milagros, the Convent of the Holy Spirit, Christ Humilladero of Health, the Church of Santa Ana, the hermitages of Ermita de San Benito and Guaditoca, patron saint of the town.

Come and enjoy our city, feel its smells, its colors, its atmosphere, its people ... come and enjoy us with the five senses, because Guadalcanal knows thyme, rockrose and rosemary and pennyroyal and chamomile, to oil and "gañotes" , to parties and tradition, and of course, history.
