The app helps to learn collaboration, emotion recognition and naming, and interaction skills.

Developed around the familiar Pikkuli animated character from television, the app is primarily intended for use in a group on large tablets or multi-touch screens. The application is also suitable for home use and use on a mobile device.
Target group: 3-7 year olds

The app includes three episodes of the Pikkuli animation series, the interactive Pikkuli Birthdays book, Emotion Card mini-apps, group exercises, and multi-touch games that are suitable for practicing collaborative skills.

The application has two different uses: a pedagogical space for use with an adult and a free play mode for children to play with each other.

In the pedagogical mode, the application can:
create your own profiles for different groups in the kindergarten
give feedback on progress to oneself and the group after the activities
achieve points and joint prizes (collecting guests and props for Pikkuli's birthdays)
track progress, self-assessments, and application usage on a group-by-group basis from the group’s own profile

The app supports language and reading learning. The user can choose whether to use the application to support reading learning, i.e. to allow words to appear as text. The application contains simple operating instructions.

The games in the app are played together and help identify and tell different feelings with the support of the instructor and other children. The application has been developed and tested with Espoo kindergartens. Based on the results of using the app, children’s social and interaction skills developed: Children learned to ask each other for help and to listen to each other. Language skills also developed.

The application is the first in the Pikkuli emotional skills application family. New applications are being developed for the application family.
