Surat Yusuf is a Meccan surah unanimously revealed before the emigration of the Messenger from Mecca, its twelfth order between the Surahs of one hundred and fourteen surahs, and the number of its verses one hundred and eleven verses, and in the order of the Noble Qur’an it falls after Surat Hood and before Surat Al-Raad. It is the 53rd surah in terms of revelation, according to Badr al-Din al-Zarkashi, it was revealed after Surat Hood and before Surat al-Hijr. The surah was called this name because it dealt with the story of the Prophet of God Yusef, as the surah contained the complete story of Joseph with all its features in one surah, and the surah narrated the kinds of calamities and adversities that Joseph suffered from his brothers, since he was put in the well and separated from his family and parents and sold him as a child, to his imprisonment, The women conspired against him, then he took over the coffers of Egypt, as all these events were recited in succession as their scenes and seasons.
