Its truly amazing to think about the wonderful patterns that are hidden inside of stones. Sometimes they look like animals, people, insects and even spaceships! Layer after layer of mineral rich pigments twist and turn, bending together to create patterns that look amazing and are truly only bound by the constraints of our minds eye.
A wonderful live wallpaper that allows you to set your wallpaper as a single picture or cycle through a library of 50 high definition collages featuring polished agates that I have arranged, and photographed specifically for this application.
Agates are truly amazing. They come in all shapes, colors and sizes. They are primarily made up of chalcedony and quartz and usually formed in volcanic and metamorphic rocks. They exhibit a cryptocrystalline crystal habit, which means that the rocks texture is actually made up of miniature crystals so small they can only vaguely be seen under high magnification with a microscope. Sometimes agates have unique designs on the outside that can be seen without tumbling but usually they need to be polished in a rock tumbler. Other times the agate needs to be cut using a lapidary saw and then polished using a lapidary wheel. Lapidary is the art of engraving, cutting or polishing stones and gems to accent and bring out their natural beauty.
