The Sports Sociology Book is an Indonesian Free Book application which contains a summary of the Sociology of Sports theory. The sociology of sports is the study of the relationship (interaction) of humans in the sports community in particular and the sports community with other societies and its accompanying sociological aspects.

The emergence of the sociology of sport (although not in its own name) dates back to the late 19th century, when the first social psychological experiments dealing with the group effect of competition and speed building took place. In addition to cultural anthropology and his interest in play in human culture, one of the first attempts to think about sport more generally was Johan Huizinga's Homo Ludens or Thorstein Veblen's Theory of Casual Class. Homo Ludens discusses the importance of the elements of play in culture and society. Huizinga suggested that play, especially sport, is the main and important condition of generational culture. This paper contributed to the revival of the sociology of sport studies. In the 1970s, the sociology of sport received significant attention as an organized and legitimate field of study. The North American Society for the Sociology of Sport was formed in 1978 with the aim of studying the field. Its research outlet, the Sociology of Sport Journal, was formed in 1984.
