Cutting the cable is getting more attractive every day. New streaming services are popping up all the time with different offerings. Even the major networks are putting programming together that can be accessed online.

In this video, we will look at USTVGO.TV. This service comprises of 85 cable channels that you can access for free on your computer or phone. Good news, bad news, you need a VPN (virtual private network) to access some of the channels and we will tell you which ones those are in a little bit.

When you log onto the website, the first thing you will see is the list of available channels on the left. At the top is a menu offering channel listings in separate categories entertainment, News, sports and kids. There is a contact link and a legal link. The legal link is instructions on how to submit a copyright takedown notice which doesn’t apply to you unless you submitted programming or USTVGO has posted something you have produced.

The TV GUIDE is pretty handy despite not being complete. It shows what is playing on all of the channels at any given time. The default is to show you what is playing now on any of the channels. The channels are listed in alphabetical order and you can scan the listings for any time over the next 16 days. Not all of the channels are displayed all of the time – there are gaps in scheduled programs but you might find what you are looking for.

The VpN link takes you to an offer to subscribe to a virtual private network. Seems kind of pricey for what it has to offer for access to just 16 more channels on the USTVGO network, but if you are concerned about internet privacy, a VPN can come in handy.

The FAQ covers a half dozen basic questions about the service and the VPN.

There is also a search window which is pretty much worthless. It doesn’t search inside any of the listings, for example, if you were looking for something that Johnny Depp was appearing in, you won’t be able to find anything. However, if you are looking for channels owned by Turner Broadcasting, typing in the name Turner will display a short list of their channels available on USTVGO.
