Abid Ghoffar bin Aboe Dja'far or better known as Ebiet G. Ade (born in Wanadadi, Banjarnegara, Central Java, 21 April 1954; age 66 years) is a singer and songwriter Indonesian citizen. Ebiet is known for her natural-themed songs and the grief of the marginalized. Through his songs in the genre of folk pop, country, and soft rock and packaged in ballad formats, at the beginning of his career, he portrayed the atmosphere of Indonesian life in the late 1970s until now. The theme of the song varies, not only about love, there are also songs on the theme of nature, socio-political, disaster, religious, family, etc.

If Ebiet was initially reluctant to leave his boarding house not far from the palace hut, the facts have pointed a straight path for him to Jakarta. He went through record after record with success. He has also recorded on Capitol Records, United States, for his 8th album Zaman. He includes Addie M.S. and Dodo Zakaria as colleagues who help with the music.

His songs became a new trend in Indonesian pop music scene. Not surprisingly, Ebiet dominated the Indonesian pop music scene in the 1979-1983 range. About 7 years Ebiet worked on recording on the Jackson Records. In 1986, the label that catapulted his name closed and Ebiet was forced to leave. He had set up his own label EGA Records, which produced 3 albums, Menjaring Matahari, Sketsa Rembulan Emas, and Seraut Wajah.

Unfortunately, in 1990, Ebiet, who was "restless" with Indonesia, finally chose to "meditate" from the hustle and bustle of the music industry and chose to stand on the sidelines. Only in 1995 did he release the album Kupu-Kupu Kertas (supported by Ian Antono, Billy J. Budiardjo (late), Purwacaraka, and Erwin Gutawa) and Cinta Sebening Embun (supported by Adi Adrian from KLa Project). In 1996 he released the album I Want to Return (supported by Purwacaraka and Embong Rahardjo). Two years later he released a Gamelan album which contained 5 old songs which were rearranged with gamelan music by Dwiki Darmawan and Kiwir. In 2000 Ebiet released the album Balada Sinetron Cinta and in 2001 he released the album Bahasa Langit, which was supported by Andi Rianto, Erwin Gutawa and Tohpati. After that album, Ebiet began to remain quiet for the next 5 years.
