Within the Saarland online school, the OSS Messenger serves as a module for secure and mobile communication between teachers, students and parents at all primary and special schools in Saarland.

In the future, essential functions such as direct messages, group and voice messages, school-wide messages, video conferences, a translation function and a survey tool within the Saarland online school can be used by everyone involved in the educational process.

- For parents: In the future you will receive important school information such as letters to parents via the app and can send a read receipt with just one click. You will receive all the information relevant to you directly from the school on your mobile device. In this way, you can quickly and easily take part in surveys in order to be able to participate in everyday school processes such as planning a parents' evening. The same applies to apologies, short messages or voice messages, which you can now send to the teacher in a user-friendly manner via your mobile device with the OSS Messenger. The introduction of the OSS messenger also overcomes existing language barriers in everyday communication between school and parents using an integrated translation function. In addition, families with children at different schools can use the app to easily switch between the locations in the Messenger menu.

- For teachers: With the OSS Messenger you can reach everyone involved in the education process in compliance with GDPR. Protect your privacy: The OSS Messenger works without a cell phone number, i.e. you alone control your chat functions by switching between one-way (only you can write) and open conversation (everyone can write). You can also request read receipts for your messages with a click, in order to have an overview of the status of your sent messages at any time. You can set individual availability times for the whole day or for certain days or times.

-For school administrations: From now on you can use the OSS Messenger to send information directly to the entire school community. You decide whether you want to send the message directly or whether you want to publish the message with a time delay, i.e. at an individually specified time. The read confirmation function also gives you a constant overview of the status of your sent messages. In addition, you also have the option of writing complex texts conveniently on your computer using the web app provided. Even spontaneously scheduled parent-teacher meetings can be held with the OSS messenger easily and from any location with the integrated video conference function.
