In this post, I am going to show you how to install HMILite 1.1 on Windows PC by using Android App Player such as BlueStacks, LDPlayer, Nox, KOPlayer, ...

Below you will find a detailed step-by-step guide, but I want to give you a fast overview of how it works. All you need is an emulator that will emulate an Android device on your Windows PC and then you can install applications and use it - you see you're playing it on Android, but this runs not on a smartphone or tablet, it runs on a PC.

Step By Step Guide To Install HMILite 1.1 using BlueStacks

Download and Install BlueStacks at: https://www.bluestacks.com. The installation procedure is quite simple. After successful installation, open the Bluestacks emulator. It may take some time to load the Bluestacks app initially. Once it is opened, you should be able to see the Home screen of Bluestacks.
Open the APK/XAPK file: Double-click the APK/XAPK file to launch BlueStacks and install the application. If your APK/XAPK file doesn't automatically open BlueStacks, right-click on it and select Open with... Browse to the BlueStacks. You can also drag-and-drop the APK/XAPK file onto the BlueStacks home screen
Once installed, click "HMILite 1.1" icon on the home screen to start using, it'll work like a charm :D

In 7 easy to follow Steps you can configure this Application to communicate Directly to a ControlLogix based PLC via a configured Router. Application Performs CIP directly with Processor. Easy to follow Steps very configurable. Simple and Effective application.

- Step 1 will prompt for IP address of Controller
- Step 2 will prompt for Port Number (it provides if you dont know it)
- Step 3 How many Buttons do you want on the Screen (Max 99)
- Step 4 How many Numeric Displays do you want on the Screen (Max 99)
- Step 5 How many Text Displays do you want on the Screen (Max 99)
- Step 7 Do you want a MultiState Local Message Banner? (Only Get 1)
-Last step tells you what Controller Tags to Enter on PLC.

Make it your own screen personalize it. Its as good as you make it.

NOTE: LAST STEP Before hitting done ensure your Routers IP address is configured to communicate with Processor as a LAN device (easy set Its IP address). Example (Processor IP 192.168.1.201) your Router should be set to (192.168.1.XXX --> unique IP not used in network).

NOTE: LAST STEP once Router is configured and you force your Device to communicate with Router Ensure the Tags the APP has requested you add into Controller are there to Read and Write to. If they are not there you will get an error. It will prompt you to recheck Controller Tags and communication.

-Application will save layout/ Applicaton will remain awake as long as it is on the screen to operate as an HMI if needed.

-Button has Indicators that will Light Up green when True and Grey when False.

-Local Message Banner is configured within the App under options menu.

-Fonts Configurable within Options Menu for Numeric, Text, LocalMessages

-Background configurable within Options Menu.Select basic colors or Choose your own from Photo gallery. WARNING PLEASE USE STOCK GALLERY AVOID USING THIRD PARTY PHOTO APPS WHEN ASKED. This may cause able to crash. Loads image from Internal Storage. (use stock gallery not Google Photos).

Permissions are needed for Internal Storage to Save Layouts and Load pictures to set as Background and that's it.

This application build around my passion for PLCs in particular Rockwell PLCs which are wonderful to work with.

TROUBLESHOOTING
ANDROID MARSHMALLOW - If in this version you get a screen overlay error please ensure under Permissions for this app the Storage Switch is set to on.
Settings-->Apps-->HMILite-->Permissions-->Storage (make sure this is on) if uninstalled you may have to turn this on.
