TAAC is an Augmentative and Alternative Communication app. The app turns a common Android tablet into a direct and easily transportable communication device. The keynote of the app is the digital reproduction of the books used as CAA tools. Instead of collecting real cards in fixed positions and researching them when needed, the digital support allows you to organise the contents in a more flexible way, facilitating the use and assisting the users with innovative features such as the speech synthesis and the active help in the composition of articulate concepts.
In particular, the app addresses to disabled persons and those who suffer from congenital or post-traumatic pathologies that make verbal communication impossible or difficult.

TAAC planning results from the direct experience with some classic communication support system and it aims to go beyond their main limits through technology.
TAAC is an evolution of the paper PCS system and of the symbolic communicators with dedicated hardware. It enhances the simplicity of the first tool but at the same time it improves the practicality by offering a manageable, compact tool easy to search. TAAC takes the idea of employing speech synthesis from the analog devices, even though it restrains the bulk and increase practicality by getting rid of paper card packets.

Features
* Customisable symbol libraries by creating and modifying cards starting from uploaded images or pictures taken by the camera.
* Help in the selection of further concepts. The app supports the communication aiming at the expression of primary needs and the composition of sentences.
* Speech synthesis pronunciation of the text related to the symbols, with the possibility of changing the pronunciation of each card.
* Management panel reserved to the assisting user who can control the lists and the card organisation, hinti of further concepts, colour labelling of the cards.
* Marketplace of card libraries related to specific contexts and prepared by CAA experts.
* Ubiquitous use thanks to the device portable format (tablet or smartphone).
