People fleeing war and political persecution, hunger and water shortages, from environmental disasters and hopelessness. In the hope of a better life to countless people themselves in the hands of unscrupulous traffickers and place when they fled their own lives and those of their families at risk.

We in Bavaria are convinced that there is only one human response to this migration crisis and is fleeing fighting cause. We must improve the life prospects of migrants in their home countries and give people the opportunity to live with dignity in their home with their family. This is the great humanitarian task of all developed and wealthy nations in the 21st century.

This task we face in Bayern in a special way by the special program "Perspectives for refugees in their home countries." We in Bavaria are committed its own responsibility and in addition to the federal government and other stakeholders in selected countries: in northern Iraq, Lebanon, Tunisia and Senegal. In 2017 and 2018 we promote projects totaling 20 million euros mainly in the water and health care, in education and training, in promoting democracy and special women's and management projects.
