The book of Fatwa summarizes a collection of important fatwas in daily life.
And among its contents discuss about aqidah which means:
The word akidah or i'tiqod linguistically comes from the word al ‘aqdu which means it revolves around a strong, strong, and close meaning.1 As for the general term, the word aqidah means a firm belief in something, without any doubt2. If the belief is in accordance with the existing reality then the creed is true, but if it is not appropriate then the creed is false.3
Every adherent of a religion has a certain creed. But the truth of the creed only exists in Islam. Because he is sourced from the Omniscient One, namely Allah Ta'ala. So therefore there is no difference between the creed brought by the Prophets from time to time.
As for the false creed, includes all creeds that are contrary to revelation. That is the creed which only comes from human reason, or comes from revelation but is changed and distorted. Like the faith of the Jews that Uzair is the son of God, or the Nashroni's faith that al is still a child of God, or the Shiite creed who believes that God regrets after willing, which is called akidah bada '.
In syar'i definition, aqidah in Islamic religion means the problem of scientific problems originating from Allah and his Prophet, which is obligatory for every Muslim to believe it as a justification of Allah and His Prophet.4
Although the word aqidah in this case is a new term5 that is not known in the Qur'an or Sunnah6, the scholars use this term. Which shows the ability to use this term. After all, there is no problem in the use of the term if the meaning is understood.
Among the scholars who use this term is Imam Al Laalakaai (418 H) in his book Syarhul ushul I'tiqod ahlu sunnah wal jama'ah, then Imam As Shobuni (449 H) in his book Aqidas Salaf Ashaabul Hadith.
Then there are several terms that are synonymous with the creed that are also used by the scholars, including: Al Fiqhul Akbar
At the beginning of the word fiqh, it was intended for the knowledge of Islamic religion in general, and in particular the knowledge regarding the hereafter, the problem of the heart, the destroyer of charity and so on.7 jurisprudence.8
So therefore, the science of jurisprudence in the past included all religious knowledge both the science of inner faith and the science of laws that are zahir. From this then came the term Fiqhul Akbar which was meant by the science of faith. Because the science of faith is greater than the science of the branches of zahir laws which are Fiqhul Ashghor.
The scholar who first used this term was Abu Hanifah (150 H) in his book Al Fiqhul Akbar. He said, "Al Fiqhul Akbar in religion is better than fiqh in science, a faqih about how to worship his Rabb is better than gathering all knowledge" 9 Al Iman
Faith linguistically means At Tashdiq (justification) 11 and Al Iqroor (determination) 12. As for the term shariah faith is justification and determination and submission to the truth that comes from revelation.13 And the scholars agree that Faith includes words and deeds, speech of the heart and mouth, deeds of the heart and limbs.14
The term faith is the word most often mentioned in the Qur'an and the Sunnah. Among the scholars who use this term are Ibn Mandah (395 H) in his book Kitabul Iman, and Shaykhul Islam Ibnu Taimiyah (728 AH) also in his two books namely Al Iman Ausath and Al Imanul Kabir, then also Imam Bukhori in His made the chapter at the beginning is called the book of the faith.15 As Sunnah
