Steth-o-cope helps medical interns to stay calm when they get a challenging ward call. It supports them when they are called to manage an acutely unwell patient on a ward, by providing a structured approach and a series of steps to follow.
The primary audience for the app is medical interns in the West Northwest Intern Training Network though it will be useful to any intern or junior doctor involved in managing acutely unwell patients in any clinical setting.

Features include:
• Support and guidance developed by a team of senior clinicians and interns.
• Checklists for the different stages involved in reviewing a patient - prepare, assess, investigate and manage.
• Practical and useful tasks for interns to do when reviewing and assessing patients with a selection of common acute problems.
• Guidance on clinical features which should trigger escalation to more senior decision-makers.
• Prompts for stopping and thinking.
• List of web resources to related protocols and guidelines.
• Tool for creating a task list and setting reminders for notification with alerts.
• Share features to support peer learning.

Steth-o-cope has been developed by a team of clinicians at the National University of Ireland, Galway and at Galway University Hospital.
